Rainbow Writing for 3 Year Olds

Create a rainbow as you use repetition for writing practice!

Materials: paper, pencil/pen/yellow crayon or marker (choose one), 3-5 crayons or markers

  1. Determine what your child is going to practice writing (suggestions below)
  2. On a piece of paper write (adult) what is being practiced in pencil, pen or a yellow crayon or marker
  3. Have your child identify each letter or number
  4. For numbers, have your child show the amount (10 or less) on their fingers
  5. Have your child identify each color crayon or marker
  6. Trace (child) each letter or number one at a time while naming what is being written
  7. Once the entire word or number is written, repeat with a new color
  8. Repeat steps 6-7 until all of the colors are used
  9. Enjoy!

3 year olds:

-Write their name (uppercase beginning letter and the rest lowercase)

-Write upper and/or lowercase letters
