Pom Pom Push for 3 Year Olds

Materials: pom pom, gift box, markers, scissors

  • On the top of the box, draw a letter or number you child is learning *I recommend staring with the letters in their name and numbers 1-5
  • Using markers that match the colors of your pom poms, draw circles inside of your letter or number and fill them in
  • Using your scissors, poke an X through the center of each circle, large enough for the pom poms to fit through
  • Place the top on the gift box on the bottom
  • Model for your child how to push the pom poms through the holes by 1) matching the color of the pom pom to the color of the circle while you identifying the color and 2) correctly forming the letter or number (for the number 3, starting at the top and moving towards the bottom, without skipping any holes, or for the letter A, starting at the top and going straight down the left side first, then starting back at the top and going straight down the right side, then crossing in the middle)
  • Let your child practice while they identify the colors and show you how to form the letter or number
  • Once the pom poms have all been pushed through the holes, open the box, dump out the pom poms and begin again
  • Enjoy!
