Materials: canvas or paper (the thicker the better), red or pink paint, paint for the letters (your color choice), paint brush, paint roller (optional), paint dish, stencil (optional), something to wash paint off with (wet paper towel, baby wipes, wet washcloth, etc.)
*I recommend having your child sit, either on the ground or in a highchair, Bumbo, jumper, etc., so the paint only gets on their foot and the project*
- Using a paint brush or paint roller, paint the bottom of your child’s foot red or pink
- Press their foot against the center of the canvas or paper (slightly turned out to form a heart shape), making sure the entire foot and toes have been pressed down to transfer the paint
- Clean the paint off of your child
- Repeat with the opposite foot, making sure the heels are touching on the canvas or paper to form a heart
- Allow the footprints to dry
- Using a stencil or freehand writing, paint the words “I” and “YOU” around the heart footprints to form “I <3 YOU”
- Allow the paint to dry
