Flower Suncatcher

Looking to brighten up your window or simply use up those old and broken crayons you have lying around? This quick and easy project requires very few materials and is a blast to make!

Materials: crayons, towel, wax paper, pencil sharpener, iron, permanent marker, scissors, tape

  • Peel the wrapper off of the crayons *Children can do this independently

  • Lay one sheet of wax paper on top of the towel to catch any shavings or spill over from ironing
  • Sharpen the crayons over the wax paper so that the shavings land on top of it *Children should turn the crayons on their own with adult supervision

  • Add a second piece of wax paper (same size) on top of the shavings

  • Iron on top of the second piece of wax paper until the two pieces are melted together (the crayons melt quickly!) *ADULTS ONLY

  • Trace or draw petals, circles and rectangular stems with permanent marker *Children can trace independently and should identify the shapes being made

  • Cut out the pieces *Children can cut on their own with supervision

  • Tape together your flower on your window or door

.

  • Enjoy!
