Get those kiddos moving with a fun twist on your traditional egg hunt!
Materials: construction paper, scissors, plastic eggs, glue, writing utensil, tape
- Cut up construction paper of various colors into small squares *Children should identify the color of each paper, 2 years olds can cut using the hand over hand technique, 3+ children can cut independently with supervision, and the shape should be identified
- Open the plastic eggs and place one colored square in each egg *Children can assist for fine motor practice and one to one correspondence practice
- Count how many eggs you have so you know when they have all been found *2 year olds can help count as high as they can go, 3 year olds can transfer each egg into a new pile as they count them to work on one to one correspondence (matching one item to one numeral) as high as they can go, 4 and 5 year olds can count all eggs independently while moving each egg into a new pile while the adult monitors their counting to ensure accuracy
- Glue one of each colored square to a sheet (or two) of paper *The color words can be written out for older children who can read independently or children who are working on color word identification
- Write a number next to each color square and one exercise per color (i.e. 3 jumping jacks, 4 arm circles, 5 high knees)
- Hang exercise list in a visible and easily accessible location for your child
- Read through each exercise with your child and demonstrate how to complete them as needed *Note that these should be able to be done independently and safely and can modified for the child’s age and ability
- Hide the eggs *The more rooms they are hidden in the more exercise your child will get from traveling back and forth from the egg to the exercise list

2) once an egg is found, bring it to the exercise board
3) open the egg an identify the color of the paper inside
4) match the color of the paper inside the egg to the color paper on the exercise list
5) identify the number next to your colored square *2 year olds can be read the number
6) the exercise will be read aloud *5 year olds can assist in sounding out letters and words
