Cheerio Removal

A fun fine motor activity that rewards little ones with a snack!

Materials: Cheerios (or a similar size/shape snack with a hole in the center), uncooked spaghetti, large/sturdy snack (whole strawberry, cheese cube, piece of pineapple, etc.)

  • Gather your materials
  • Break the uncooked spaghetti in half
  • Place the spaghetti pieces into the larger snacks, sticking straight up
  • Slide the Cheerios onto the spaghetti pieces until they reach the top

  • Place the activity in front of your child
  • Model how to take one Cheerio off of the spaghetti at a time
  • Let your child experiment with removing the Cheerios *They can also put them back on themselves if they are able to
  • Repeat until all of the Cheerios have been removed or add more Cheerios as needed
  • Enjoy!
